Handsome Hounds was founded by 2 former
college classmates, Ruth and Debbie. Coincidentally, they both have two cockapoos. Ruth socialized on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with other dog owners. (For those who don’t know it, the Upper West Side of NYC has the most dogs per capita in the United States). Many owners complained that their dogs didn’t like to go out in inclement weather and as many city dwellers will tell you, they don’t have the luxury of not walking their dogs in bad weather.
Ruth and Debbie decided to create a weather resistant dog coat that provided the appropriate covering to keep dogs dry, while providing a classic appeal (non-cutesy) for dogs of all sizes and shapes.
Thus, the Handsome Hounds Wax Cotton Coat was born, as was our companion Polartec Fleece and gorgeous leash and collar lines. We are as committed to providing excellent customer service as we are to providing high quality, functional custom dog apparel and accessories.
